Your cat hops on top of the litter box and steps down through the opening. When exiting across built-in tracking mat, litter is removed from the cat's paws.

To familiarize your cat to the litter box, install one of the two provided liners and 2-3 inches of litter. Use without the lid until your cat has eliminated several times, then place the lid back on top of the litter box.
